Upgraded the firmware to version 4.1.40, downloaded from http://www.newmajestic.com/area_downloads.php.

• DivX and XviD support
• Can read DVD movies from DVD-RW and DVD+RW media

• Complex scenes in high resolution MPEG-4 files are not played smoothly: sometimes they flicker
• Ogg/Vorbis audio files are not supported
• AVI files with resolution of 768 x 560 not supported, too wide? A width of 720 pixels is OK
• Cannot play files with name lenght greather than 64 characters (the file does not appear in the menu)
• Does not support MPEG-4 files with QPEL encoding (Quarter Pixel Motion Search Precision)

Default password for parental control is 3308.

The player unfortunately did not last long: just after une year it died. I will look for another brand/model.
